Ayodhya’s first drone show happened at the 2024 Deepotsav, also by BotLab Dynamics. The show, which was of 500 drones, was such a viral success that UP Tourism doubled the scale of the aerial show this year, enabling more sophisticated and visually striking images. The 2025 drone show was also planned across two days this time, catering to popular demand.
The increased drone fleet of 1100 drones this time around enabled motion-led storytelling, i.e. not simply forming images in the sky, but animating them. So, instead of Lord Ram and Ravana standing still across from each other, Lord Ram’s arrow actually flies across the sky and strikes Ravana, whose ten heads disintegrate on impact. Similarly, rather than just showcasing the beauty of a Diwali diya, the circular motion of a traditional aarti can be recreated with precision in drones, bringing the images to life in a culturally resonant way.
Botlab’s team of in-house designers and sound engineers also crafted a live experience that went beyond the drone show visuals. A live voiceover artist narrated the story as each drone formation appeared in the night sky, explaining the spiritual significance of each episode of the Ramayana, making for an even more enriching and educational experience for the swarm of devotees. Rousing music accompanied the visuals, drawing shouts of “Jai Shri Ram” from the emotional devotees, many of whom were moved to tears by the drone show retelling of the Ramayana.

Highlight Formations from Ayodhya Drone Show 2025
The drone show began with tributes to Maharshi Valmiki and Tulsidas, the visionary writers who enabled the Ramayana to reach every household in India.
Lord Hanuman wielding his mace, and Shri Ram stringing his legendary bow became instant crowd favourites, and went absolutely viral. Then came the pivotal moment of the Ramayana, when the arrow loosed by Lord Ram hit true, and Ravana’s demonic form disintegrated into a thousand pieces.
Pushpak Vimana’s graceful form next rose gracefully into the sky, travelling across the night sky. Shri Ram’s Rajyabhishek and the full glory of the Ram Durbar with Mata Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman were beautifully showcased.
Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir took shape in the sky next, a magnificent 3D structure that exactly replicated the Ram Mandir nearby. This was followed by an aerial recreation of the Ram Mandir idol, Ram Lalla. This being only the second Deepotsav after the completion of the long-awaited temple, the Ram Mandir and the godly form it houses are very close to the people’s hearts, which led to both formations becoming two of the most widely shared from the Ayodhya drone show.
Even before the show started however, BotLab Dynamics had a surprise for the audience. Instead of the typical grid takeoff that sees the drones travel from the takeoff grid to the viewers’ point in a series of rectangular grids, the company created a customised takeoff. A massive bow formed near the earth, from which an arrow was released into the sky, travelling towards the viewers’ point. BotLab Dynamics is in fact the only drone show company in the world that has cracked the technology behind customised takeoffs, enabling their storytelling to begin right from the word go.
Festival Drone Shows in India 2025
Drone shows were very popular in Indian festive celebrations in 2025. More and more governments, corporates and private entities are embracing this technology to create moments of shared community celebrations. The immersive and emotional impact of a drone show, along with its huge visibility (5-7 kilometers) elevates festive celebrations to the skies, quite literally.

Diwali Drone Shows by BotLab Dynamics in 2025
In 2025, BotLab Dynamics executed 50+ drone shows across India during the festival season. Highlight shows included Durga Puja drone shows for Amazon and Flipkart, a 10-day Navratri show for Vijayawada Vijayotsav and a 4-day Guinness World Record drone show for Mysore Dasara. Other wildly popular aerial shows happened at Kota Dussehra Mela, Moradabad Diwali and India Gate. The Ayodhya Deepotsav drone show that happened on 2 consecutive days was the perfect high note to close out a very successful festival season for us. This is nearly a fourfold increase in drone shoe demand as compared to 2024 - proof of the rising popularity of drone light shows in Indian celebrations.

Why Drone Shows Are Replacing Fireworks at Festivals
Drone shows are the answer to those event organisers, governments and corporate entities who are looking for sustainable ways of celebrating beloved festivals. People are now becoming more eco-conscious, and are rejecting the smoke and noise pollution of fireworks. Drone shows do not emit smoke or light, while also offering richer storytelling with 100% customisable images - unlike fireworks. Even when using pyro drones (drones integrated with pyrotechnics), BotLab Dynamics uses cold flare pyros that do not emit smoke. Compared to fireworks, drone shows are completely safe in the short as well as long term.
Conclusion: Drone Shows Are the Future of Celebrations
As more and more drone shows light up India’s skies with tech-powered aerial spectacles, it is clear that this technology is here to stay. Not only do they wow the live audience, they capture the attention of bystanders even kilometers away from the site. They also bring in a flood of user-generated content with no extra investment - the novelty of the medium ensures that nearly everyone who watches a drone show records it and posts about it. The magic of drone shows, especially during festivals, has to be seen to be believed.
