Delhi celebrated Diwali with a grand drone show spectacle at India Gate in a stunning celebration that brought together technology and tradition. The India Gate Diwali drone show took over the night sky, creating a festive experience that was enjoyed by everyone in a 6-kilometre radius. This was the first time that Diwali was celebrated in this manner with a shared immersive experience!

Diwali in Delhi is always a joyous occasion, celebrated together with family, friends and even strangers. The whole city is decked up in lights and colour, every inch of the earth and every building dotted with diyas and LED lights. This year around, Delhi Tourism decided to go big, and extend the festival of lights to the sky! The Delhi Diwali drone show did precisely that, flying a huge fleet of synchronized drones above India Gate, showcasing a Ramayana-themed story in the voice of Lord Hanuman. This was a tech-powered celebration of tradition that Delhi had never witnessed at this scale before!

Delhi Tourism Diwali Celebration 2025

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta was the chief guest at the grand gala that was Diwali at India Gate. The Kartavya Path was lined with thousands of lit diyas, much like how the kingdom of Ayodhya of yore must have celebrated when Lord Ram finally came home after 14 years of exile. The program began with an energetic address by the Delhi CM, and a Bharatanatyam performance by a dance troupe. Giant LED screens showcased a short film on Delhi’s Diwali as well. A laser show lit up the sky next, another technological integration set to the tune of Diwali music. All this set the stage for what was the highlight of the event -  the BotLab Diwali celebration show!

The commingling of traditional ways of celebrating Diwali, like diyas and classical dance invocations, came together with innovative and tech-led celebrations in Delhi Tourism’s vision. This was a representation of New India - rooted in heritage and visionary in technology.

India Gate Delhi Diwali Drone Show

The drone light show at India Gate narrated the story of the Ramayana, our most revered epic, with drone-powered storytelling, bringing both aspects of today’s India together in one glorious celebration. As the fleet of 1000 drones rose into the air behind India Gate, a booming voice also rang out - “Main hoon Anjaniputra Hanuman” ("I am Anjani’s son Hanuman”). This began the age-old tale of Ramayana from a fresh perspective - through the eyes of Lord Hanuman, the greatest of Lord Ram’s devotees. To the great delight of the thousands gathered at India Gate, the voice, that seemed to be coming from the heavens themselves, then began narrating Lord Ram’s story from his birth to his final battle with Ravan, and finally, his homecoming.

  • Diwali Drone Show 2025 Highlights

The first image was of the narrator himself, Lord Hanuman, hands joined in prayer surrounded by the divine word of “Ram”. The story began of course from Lord Ram’s birth - Shri Ram Janmabhoomi, to depict which the drones created a magnificent 3D rendition of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir. Everyone’s beloved Ram Lalla, whose idol is at the core of the temple, appeared next in the skies, recreated in perfect detail in the drone show. This formation was an instant crowd favourite!

Next, the warrior side of Lord Ram leapt into the night sky above India Gate, wielding his legendary bow and arrows. It was time to depict the greatest battle of all, between two great warriors, the epitome of the enduring struggle between good and evil. On one side was Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram, while on the other was the ten-headed demon king Ravan. The arrow found its mark, and Ravan disintegrated into a thousand points of light!

The aftermath of the battle was portrayed next via drone show, with Lord Hanuman seated at Lord Ram’s feet. The godly voice described the nature of Lord Ram after the battle - victorious but never arrogant. It was then time for the rightful Ayodhya king’s homecoming. The drones formed the image of a joyful woman, lighting up diyas one by one - one of the thousands of Ayodhya residents preparing to welcome Lord Ram home.

The culturally resonant image of Lakshmi Ma’s feet lined in red lit up the sky next at the center of a vibrant rangoli, depicting the tradition of Lakhmi Pooja. The drones even formed the visage of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesh blessing the gathered Diwali crowd - wisdom and wealth together. The India Gate Diwali drone show ended with the image of a happy family, dressed up in traditional clothes, with lanterns floating all around them, celebrating together. The message of Shubh Deepawali lit up the sky, as Delhi Tourism wished all of Delhi a happy and prosperous Diwali.

  • Viral Impact of India Gate Drone Show

Within minutes of the drone show starting, social media was flooded with pictures and videos of the showstopping spectacle. Everyone gathered at India Gate was recording and posting about the show. The high radius of visibility also meant that Delhiites even at a distance of 6 km from India Gate could watch the show, increasing the real time reach to thousands of spectators! The striking visuals that are the hallmark of a drone light show translate into lakhs of reshares and reposts within a few hours. This is exactly what happened with the Delhi Diwali drone show performed by BotLab Dynamics as well, which garnered 200 million views and counting! This is not even taking into account the hundreds of organic media mentions that followed the show!

Diwali Drone Shows 2025

The 2025 festive season saw government agencies, brands and private individuals opt for drone shows for their celebrations. BotLab Dynamics, India’s leading drone show company, single-handedly executed over 50 drone shows within the past month for various festival celebrations all over India. It was not only Tier 1 cities that have been embracing this medium this time, but Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities as well, showing that drone light shows are becoming popular in even places that are not usually thought of as tech-forward. There are many reasons why Diwali drone light shows are being preferred over traditional media like fireworks, and the India Gate Diwali show 2025 demonstrated many of them.

  • Drone Shows vs Fireworks

Drone shows are a new medium of storytelling, while fireworks have become commonplace. This is why videos of drone light shows, such as the one at Ayodhya Deepotsav 2025 went viral on social media, with Instagram reels getting as many as million views in a few hours! Even all promotions around the Delhi Diwali celebration focused on the drone show rather than any other aspect of the event. Drone light shows are a crowd puller owing to their novelty, in a way that fireworks are simply not.

Additionally, celebrations today are taking sustainability quite seriously now. It’s no longer enough to host a spectacle; it is becoming equally important for these not to harm the environment or people’s health. Drone shows do not cause smoke or noise pollution, unlike fireworks. Even pyro drones - BotLab Dynamics has the only fleet of pyro drones in India - use cold flares, which do not emit smoke. Drone light shows are a surefire way to keep festive celebrations both spectacular and sustainable!

Conclusion: Drone Shows Are Changing Festival Celebrations Forever

India’s festival celebrations will never be the same after 2025. The large-scale adoption of drone light shows to create eco-friendly and sustainable spectacles is a trend that is catching on. Amazon, Flipkart, PayTM, Zomato and Vedanata are some of the brands that have recognised the incredible power of drone shows to bring people together, rise above the ordinary and grab viral attention. If we were to compare the number of festive drone shows performed in 2024 to 2025, we can observe almost a 4X increase. This trend is going to continue well into the future. We invite you to join us in celebrating our traditions with the power of Made in India technology.
