On the occasion of the 63rd Walong Day, BotLab Dynamics had the incredible honour of paying tribute to the Indian Army through a stunning high-altitude drone light show. As India’s leading drone show company, we had already taken our aerial shows to every part of the country. Our drone shows have lit up the skies across 26 out of 28 Indian states, and now, we are proud to have had the chance to take our tally to 27, with Arunachal Pradesh’s first ever drone show!

63rd Walong Day Events by Indian Army

The 63rd Walong Day Commemoration is being marked by the Indian Army in a grand way to honour the sacrifice and courage of our soldiers at the 1962 Battle of Walong, where the Indian Army stood tall against a much bigger and very heavily armed Chinese garrison. As part of the commemoration, a series of events were held over 27 days (the length of the Battle of Walong). A major highlight was the Battlefield Trek, whose final leg retraced historic moments and paths from the battle. A half marathon and cycling expedition were also undertaken. The events included a wreath-laying ceremony, the screening of a movie on Walong Day, a performance by a Jazz Band, a spectacular light and sound show, sand art and the grand finale - a drone light show by BotLab Dynamics.

The Walong Day Drone Show 2025 was planned as an aerial tribute to the bravery of the Indian Army in the face of impossible odds. The location was a challenging one with high altitude and high wind speed. But once again, we were more than equal to the challenge! Our Made in India drone technology allows us to solve any locational problems in real time - the unique and powerful advantage of complete operational mastery over every aspect of our tech stack. Considering the gravity of the occasion, we were determined to put on a wonderful show for our forces, and what a success Arunachal Pradesh’s first drone show turned out to be!

- Highlight Formations of Arunachal Drone Show 2025

The show opened with the strong letters of “63rd Walong Day” lighting up the night sky in the colours of the Indian flag. Next, an animated plane flew across the horizon, dropping off a parachute-wearing paratrooper, who drifted gracefully down to earth. Next was a depiction of the very popular Adventure Trek, whose last leg was a nostalgic and historic revisiting of the Walong Battle. A night sky trekker made his way up the slope, heavy backpack in tow.

Next was a depiction of the Indian Army’s advanced capabilities. A drone was revealed, rotors spinning and flying proudly. At the same time, an artillery gun appeared below, showcasing proudly that the army could not only unleash drone warfare, but also effectively counter it. Next, a helmeted soldier took aim and fired a single bullet that tore its way through the clouds. The Indian Army’s focus on tech absorption and modernisation was demonstrated in the formation of a drone swarm.

One of the Indian Army’s pillars of focus as part of restructuring efforts is the delayering of decision-making. The drones formed a pyramid of people, from which one layer moved out, showing visually the bridging of hierarchies, reducing decision-making time. Another pillar is Human Resource Management, which we translated into visuals via a handshake between a green Army and a suit-clad hand.

The second last drone show formation was the Walong memorial, with the instantly recognisable silhouette of a soldier standing guard, rifle against the ground and head bowed in respect. The show closed with the dao shining in the sky with the text “Jai Hind”, once again in glorious tricolour.

BotLab Dynamics has been long trusted by the Indian Army and Navy to orchestrate some of India’s biggest and most well-known drone shows. Our stellar track record, Made in India drone technology focus, and ability to adapt well to any on-ground circumstance and weather condition have made BotLab Dynamics the only trusted drone show provider for the Indian armed forces. We have designed and executed multiple drone shows for the Army over the last few years, the most famous being the Beating Retreat Ceremony drone shows in 2022 and 2023.

- Beating Retreat Ceremony Drone Show 2022

This was a path-breaking drone light show by BotLab Dynamics at Rashtrapati Bhawan in 2022. This 1000-drone show put India on the map in terms of the drone show industry, making the country only the fourth in the world to host a drone show of this scale. For this achievement, BotLab Dynamics was also awarded a Certificate by the Ministry of Defence. This was India’s first large-scale drone show, which also served as a visually stunning demonstration of the nation’s advances in drone swarming technology. This was the 75th year of Independence of India, and we drew on themes of patriotism and progress to create a drone show experience that moved spectators to tears. Three dimensional light formations rose over Raisina Hills, like an accurate 3D globe, the recently inaugurated War Memorial and the mechanical Made in India lion. Deservedly, the show garnered significant national and international media attention. What was incredible about this achievement was that it was actually the first official show by BotLab Dynamics!

- Beating Retreat Ceremony Drone Show 2023

Next year, we decided to go even bigger, taking our fleet size up to 3500 drones! This time, the drone show was accompanied by surface mapping, projected right on top of Rashtrapati Bhawan’s iconic walls. Even the takeoff with 3500 drones was a goosebumps moment, painting the sky with the tricolour! Every formation was created in 3D space, and nearly every moment from that show went viral. We created a massive solar system, a leaping cheetah, a much more detailed globe than last year, the Dandi march led by Mahatma Gandhi, and an accurate snapshot of Vijay Chowk from Rashtrapati Bhawan to India Gate. Almost three years down the line, this Beating Retreat drone show continues to be among India’s top 5 biggest aerial shows!

- Vijay Diwas Drone Show 2023

The Vijay Diwas drone light show happened at another iconic location - right above the Victoria Memorial in Kolkata. This time, 700 drones took to the sky to celebrate the courage and capabilities of the Indian armed forces as well as commemorate the 1971 India-Pakistan war. The drone show was the crowning moment of the evening, showcasing the might of the Eastern Command. This drone show put the spotlight on our customised takeoffs, one of the unique offerings of BotLab Dynamics. The drones took off in a spectacular spiral, making for a photo album moment right above Victoria Memorial’s dome. Other highlight formations included the rising sun shield of the Eastern Command, Sam Manekshaw’s portrait, a paratrooper jumping from a flying plane, and a commando rappelling down from a helicopter.

- Navy Day Drone Shows by BotLab Dynamics

The Navy Day drone shows performed by BotLab Dynamics in Agra and Bhubaneshwar are masterclasses in how successful and beautiful shows can be pulled off even in smaller drone counts if one has the creative vision and technical skill for it. The Agra Navy Day drone show had 150 drones, while the Odisha Navy Day show had 200. Both narrated the epic story of our naval heroes, with formations showcasing saluting soldiers, the Indian Navy crest, the Indian map, and Navy ships powering through ocean waves.

Drone Shows Are Reimagining Milestone Celebrations

The scale and spectacle of a drone light show is taking celebration events to new heights, quite literally. Precise light imagery and motion-led storytelling through these aerial shows captures attention instantly, and keeps the audience hooked throughout. High visibility combined with high impact ensures that the experience is shared by an entire community together, making the celebration all the more meaningful and memorable. Governments, brands and private individuals are now opting for drone shows to mark important days with once in a lifetime aerial celebrations. The hype is real!
